Setup, builders and imports

Create or import reusable company definitions without needing demo data.

Start in Setup & builders

Open Documents > Setup & builders. Each card offers the actions your account is permitted to use. Builder access is permission-based: a Technician or Supervisor can create or import a definition when the relevant Builders & imports permission is enabled. Administrator status is not required for these builder actions.

A clean company can create or import checklist templates, maintenance routines, toolbox-talk forms, logbook designs and inventory structures. People who only have viewing permission do not receive hidden builder authority.

Create new or import existing

Choose Create new for a blank reusable definition, or Import existing for the supported Wavelink package. Browser imports accept .ajcheck, .ajtoolbox, .ajlogs and .ajinventory as shown by each card. Review the exact filename, digest and summary before importing. The selected file is held in the open tab until the reviewed import is sent; it is not an offline draft.

Checklist, maintenance and toolbox imports become new unpublished definitions. Inventory imports create a separate inventory. Logbook browser import deliberately creates the reusable definitions only: saved entries, corrections, references and media are not copied.

What browser builders never import

The browser builder path does not import users, passwords, signatures, completed checklist records, verification history, custody history or logbook operational entries. Creating or importing a definition does not approve work, sign a toolbox talk, complete maintenance or move stock.

Exact current permissions are checked again when previewing and saving. Filtering or navigating cannot grant a capability your account does not have.

Advanced transfers remain separate

Whole-project .ajproject, reusable setup bundles, operations workbooks and other history-bearing transfers remain advanced/native tools. Import a complete fictional project only into a new separate training project, never over company data. Macros, external workbook links and queries are not run by Wavelink.

Original source files

Original files is a separate document library. Uploading a PDF, Office file or image preserves that source; it does not automatically create a checklist, certificate, Task or maintenance routine. Original-file upload and organisation keep their existing authority rules.

Clean-company onboarding is optional

The Setup & builders page gives shortcuts for an empty company: people and departments, reusable definitions, inventory and originals. These are helpful starting points, not mandatory steps or a completion score. Build only the modules your company intends to use.
