Export and transfer logbooks

Choose definitions, historical entries or reference material

Export the working log as a table

On the phone/browser select Export report. In Admin use Logs → Report. Excel and PDF use a compact log table with the same column order, newest-first rows and LOG ON/LOG OFF colours as the working view, rather than a separate page of labels for every entry.

  1. Choose Working columns for the compact view, or All columns and Notes for the complete field set. The browser initially follows the current All columns setting.
  2. Review search, UTC dates and Include voided. All matching saved entries are exported, not only the currently displayed page. Clear UTC dates to include unconfirmed source times.
  3. Choose Excel log table for the current section, or All log sections for one worksheet per section. Headings and Date/time are frozen. The file contains literal saved values without executable formulas or macros.
  4. Choose PDF log table for the selected section. The report is landscape, with repeated table headings and page numbers. Wider tables use A3; very wide All columns reports continue in numbered column groups with identifying columns repeated. The limit is 1,000 entries.
  5. CSV contains the same chosen table values but no colours or formatting. Text that could be interpreted as a formula is quoted for spreadsheet safety.

Transfer definitions or full log history

Use Admin → Logs → Logbook setup → Export / import for a portable .ajlogs package. Definitions are always included; tick entry history, reference pages and reference pictures as needed. For definitions only, leave all three off. Offset registers travel with their definitions and selected history.

Reference pages may include historical source rows even when entry history is unticked, as well as restricted information. Their export includes restricted pages. Packages are not encrypted. Import creates a new logbook, not a merge; imported pages need a new local review. Full project backups and full-history project transfers include saved logbooks.

For a saved project handover across all current workspaces, use Projects → Export — choose contents… and choose Complete project or a supported selection. The preview lists current workspaces and required dependencies. Read Export and import project workspaces before sharing; original-file and private-history permissions are not a filter on the exported database.

Vessel log scope in transfers

Complete project copies retain logbook-to-vessel links, per-user site log rights and their access-change history. A history-bearing selected Logs transfer includes these with the retained site directory and accounts; omitting Logs omits its scope and rights too. The transfer remains administrator-only, unencrypted and not filtered to a single vessel.

A standalone .ajlogs export transfers a logbook without vessel grants. It imports as a new project-only logbook. Review its content and deliberately link it to a local vessel and users before using it in the vessel portal. It does not modify or restore the original scope automatically.
