Build a logbook step by step

Create the sections and entry forms your team needs

In the browser, use Setup & builders → Logbooks with the Build and import logbook designs permission. Administrators have this capability automatically, but administrator status is not required. The native wizard below remains available for its existing workflow.

1. Open Admin → Logs → Logbook setup → Log Builder wizard…. Choose Vessel operations, Activity only, Issues and handover, Weather and SVP, or Blank custom log.
2. Enter a name and an optional purpose. The logbook belongs to the project currently open.
3. Add, rename, reorder or remove sections. Built-in sections include Activity, Survey runs, SVP, Weather, Line status, Draft measurements, Issues, Lever arms and C-O. Each section becomes a tab.
4. Choose each section and configure its fields: text, number, date, time or dropdown. Add units, required fields and choices. Do not add author initials; the signed-in account and save time are recorded automatically.
5. Review the full structure, tick the review acknowledgement and choose Create logbook. The new empty logbook is selected; choose a section and Add entry to begin.

Back and Next retain changes only inside the open builder. Nothing is saved until Create logbook. Cancelling asks before discarding the unfinished setup. This does not publish a checklist, copy history or overwrite another logbook.
